A crucial function could be removed if Apple and Google step up their efforts, according to a recent leak of the Samsung Galaxy S26.

As Apple and Google double down on the Galaxy S26 lineup, which is anticipated to ship on February 25, 2026, a crucial function may be removed, according to a new Samsung Galaxy S26 leak.

The new Galaxy S26 series from Samsung may be quietly but noticeably deviating from its nearest competitors’ wireless-charging strategy.
According to a recent rumor, the Galaxy S26 lineup—which is scheduled to debut on February 25, 2026—will not have integrated Qi2 magnetic alignment. Instead of being built into the devices themselves, magnetic charging might only be available in optional cases.

Images of Samsung Galaxy S26 accessories that were obtained and released by the Dutch publication Nieuwemobiel are the source of the information. The pictures clearly depict S26 series cases, some of which have visible magnetic rings and others of which do not.

It would be assumed that all official cases, not just a handful, would enable magnetic charging if the phones themselves have Qi2 magnets.
In contrast to rivals like Apple’s MagSafe ecosystem and Google’s Pixelsnap, which have both fully embraced magnetic wireless charging, there is mounting conjecture that Samsung is completely abandoning native Qi2 magnets.
Given news that Samsung has been creating its own magnetic accessories, including as magnetic power banks and a 25W MagSafe-style wireless charger, the move seems even more odd. These attachments would only work with suitable cases if magnets weren’t integrated into the phone, which would reduce their appeal.

Leaked specifications, however, provide a potential reason. Wireless Power is anticipated to be retained in the Galaxy S26 series.    Wireless Power Share, Samsung’s reverse wireless charging feature.

The timing of this leak is important because Samsung’s next Unpacked event is quickly approaching. If verified, the lack of integrated Qi2 magnets would be seen as a lost chance in a flagship market that is becoming more and more competitive.
Nevertheless, significant advancements in software, camera capabilities, and performance are still anticipated for the Galaxy S26 series. The issue of native Qi2 support is still open, though, until Samsung issues a formal statement.
